Thank you for choosing AVer video conferencing solutions. This hardware installation guide serves as a
reference for making the connections needed to get your new system up and running as quickly as possible.

before making the connections

Make sure all devices are powered off. Follow the illustrated connection diagrams below to ensure all essential cables are properly connected. Refer to the user manual of the device you are connecting to the video conferencing system.

connecting the display device(s)

*Roll over each image for cable identifications.

Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the codec, and the other end to your HDMI enabled display device. If you are using dual displays, connect the VGA cable to the VGA OUT port on the codec and the VGA input of your second display.

connecting the camera

If you are using the included 26-pin D-sub camera cable, connect one end to the CAMERA IN port on codec and the other end
to the camera.

connecting the microphone(s)

To connect the included AVer microphones, connect the red end of the 6-pin mini XLR cable to the red MIC IN port on the codec and the blue end to the blue MIC OUT port on the microphone.

If you are connecting multiple MICs, daisy-chain them by connecting the cables matching the colors (red cable end to red mic port, etc.)

connecting the LAN (Internet) and the power

Using the supplied RJ45 Ethernet cable, connect one end to the LAN port on the codec and the other end to your network. Make sure to connect to an IP-based network.

Connect the power adapter to any standard 100V~240V AC power outlet, then plug the power into the system. Only use the supplied 19V power adapter to apply power to the video conferencing system.

connecting external speakers (optional)

If you plan to use external speakers (and not the HDMI cable for audio), connect them to the back of the codec using the 3.5mm AUDIO OUT port. Powered speakers are recommended when using an external speaker system.

connecting an auxiliary microphone (optional)

If you plan to use an external or auxiliary MIC, connect it to either the 3-pin mini XLR port on the codec labeled AUX MIC IN, or the 3.5 mm AUDIO IN port. Next, using the remote, select "Home" -> "Setting" -> "System Settings" -> "Video / Audio" -> "Microphone" -> "MIC Through", and then select the type of MIC you would like to use. Please note that when using a MIC on either of these ports, it will disable any microphones plugged into the red MIC IN port. A powered MIC is required when using the 3.5 mm audio input.

A US business integrates AVer video conferencing to increase operational efficiency and streamline communication effectiveness

Challenge
Integrating all three operating companies between the headquarters in Pennsylvania and five sister locations spread throughout the US and Mexico, physical distance between site, management teams and staff created communication barriers. Current tools were not enough to maintain effective communication between locations, and thus encouraged A. Stucki to seek new options.

Where physical travel became logistically and financially restrictive, the need for virtual face-to-face communication became apparent. A. Stucki attempted a variety of web-based communication tools, from free VoIP video services to fee-based online meeting tools. "The free services are… free, and we got what we paid for: choppy, broken, lagging video streams (think Max Headroom from the 80s)," says the manager of information systems for A. Stucki Company. "The online meeting tools were clumsy, and the company a bear to work with. They were happy to sell the product, but had no interest to support its use within our companies. No benefit. We quickly stopped using it."

Students & teachers use HVC330 to traverse the Australian Outback in seconds

Discover how a small Christian school located in the rural community of Bourke, Australia, opened a new chapter in education for both the students and the teachers with the introduction of the AVer HVC330 video conferencing system.

Challenge
Like so many small rural schools, Koinonia Christian Academy (KCA) has limited access to resources, training and interactions with other entities. The school needed to find a way to gain this exposure, while minimizing the cost and effect it had on the resources of the school.

Attending interschool conferences throughout the year is vital for a school’s development and progression, however, for Principal Patricia Amos, the cost to attend was prohibitive. With Bourke located in such a rural region, attending a 1 day conference in Sydney effectively resulted in 3 days away from the school, once travel time was taken into consideration. With only two teachers, the school was left short-staffed and under extra pressure while Mrs. Amos was away. The remote location also meant that KCA found it challenging to organize experts to visit the school and share their knowledge with the students.

The school needed a solution that would enable both the teachers and the students to be connected with entities outside Bourke in a cost-effective way, not just for professional development, but to enhance the student’s learning experiences too.

Solution
After a thorough evaluation of the available distance learning options, including Skype™ (which was dismissed due to the lack of security), KCA found H.323 video conferencing technology to offer the best solution to their needs, as it is ideal for class-to-class collaborations (or conference-to-conference), and virtual field trips. Other important advantages in the video conferencing field include the interoperability, in which most brands can freely communicate with other brands without the need of additional equipment, and the ability to allow for AV equipment integration.

The AVer HVC330 video conferencing system was selected due to its excellent features and cost value. KCA was especially impressed with its ability to operate effectively on a low bandwidth without losing quality, the security aspect, the user-friendliness and ease of setup, given that the school doesn’t have an IT department.

Results
KCA sees both immediate and long-term benefits of using the AVer HVC330 VC system. Since implementing the HVC330, the opportunities for Principal Amos to attend conferences have expanded. Both teachers can now be involved in professional training and development for the benefit of the school, and they have received positive feedback from the conference hosts, who have been very accommodating, and have also been impressed with the quality of the system.

The cost benefits have been huge, as 2 trips to Sydney and back covers the cost of an AVer HVC330 VC system, resulting in the school having received a cost benefit within the first year. In the near future, the teachers are aiming to implement class-to-class interactions and virtual field trips with other entities around Australia, including museums, Olympic athletes, and perhaps even some of the other 70 schools that are a part of the Accelerated Christian Education system.

Koinonia Christian Academy (KCA) is a rural, K-12 school located in the outback of New South Wales, Australia, on the outskirts of Bourke – a small town with a population of less than 2,500. The name “Koinonia”, means communication by intimate participation, and is a fitting name for the small school, which places such a strong emphasis on both Christian growth and academic excellence.
